Blood Sugar Central

Maintaining your blood sugar levels as close to normal levels as possible is key. That could mean simply through diet changes, exercise, and/or oral medications. Sometimes you could need the assistance of insulin therapy. Regardless which therapy is working best for you, the only way to be sure your blood sugar levels are within a good target range, you need to test frequently. This means on a daily basis, and multiple times a day. Your glucose meter and test strips will become your best friend. Also, make it a habit to go in to your doctor for regular A1c testing. This gives you an average of where your blood sugar levels are throughout a period of time (months). To be sure you are maintaining proper and safe levels, a good A1c test should fall below 7, on average.

If you are following a healthy diet, making sure you get proper daily exercise, and following a treatment plan provided by your doctor, you should be well on your way to a healthier way of life.
