Blue Apron to Collaborate on Diabetes-Friendly Recipes

Blue Apron recently announced their new collaboration with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for future recipes. This collaboration will help them expand the recipes available for anyone who may be a diabetic, vegetarian, or practice a carb-conscious diet.

What is Blue Apron?

Blue Apron is a meal kit service that launched in 2012 that allows you to pick from recipes, then have all of the fresh ingredients mailed directly to your home. In addition to picking out your meals, you can decide how often you want them sent to you. You can sign up and pick your plan online or in the mobile app.

Blue Apron’s mission is to make healthy home cooking accessible to as many people as possible. The new diabetes-friendly options will help people who are managing diabetes to meet the Nutrition Guidance by the ADA.

The collaboration

Blue Apron features diabetes-friendly recipes each week. You can find these recipes in their Signature Two-Serving menu. They will also start adding diabetes-friendly recipe options to their Four-Serving Menu.

Some of the new diabetes-friendly recipes that will be available to pick through the website or mobile app are the following:

  • Smoky Chicken & Creamy Cilantro Sauce
  • Spicy Salmon & Orange Relish with Salsa Verde Couscous
  • Togarashi Tilapia & Marinated Cucumber
  • Quinoa & Vegetable Fried Rice with Sunny Side-Up Eggs & Peanuts
  • Seared Salmon & Shallot-Dijon Vinaigrette

“This collaboration is one part of our commitment to offering diverse and delicious meals that suit a wide variety of lifestyles and health preferences without sacrificing flavor,” said Blue Apron’s CEO, Linda Kozlowski. “Our recipes, whether diabetes-friendly, carb-conscious, or plant-forward, are nutritious options you truly want to eat.”

Blue Apron is also including labels with their recipes to help distinguish who the recipes are best suited for. Among the new recipes, they have labels such as Carb Conscious, Plant-Forward, Vegetarian, Diabetes Friendly, WW Approved, and 500 Calories or Less.

If you are struggling to find diabetes-friendly meals and recipes that you feel comfortable cooking, Blue Apron is an excellent option to help you.
